Sometimes we live with dreams of fulfilling a burning desire in our hearts. Those dreams haunt us as we go about our daily lives. In the daylight they feel like phantoms; because they never show themselves in material ways in our existence.
One reason they may not materialize is that "life gets in the way." Although thoughts of our dreams may bring a smile to our face or comfort us as hopeful possibilities, we are aware that they will find no space in the day to day activities of our lives. We also imagine, after a time, that dreams are wonderful when they fill the empty spaces of our slumber but they are distractions when they intrude upon the orderly direction our lives have taken. REALLY?!
Another reason our dreams may not emerge from the secret place they hold in our hearts is that we fear the dream. We may be afraid we could never 'pull it off.' We may have thoughts like:
*Do I have the capacity to make this thing real?
*I'll look really stupid if I try it and fail!
*Am I willing to give up the certainty of what I already have for the (frightening) uncertainty of
some idea that just keeps popping into my head?
OR, we may consider the idea and conclude that it's probably the results of an unusual moment of boredom (or something else along those lines). That's what fear may say. But, deep down inside we know better. And, even though we know better, the fears we have win!
A third reason we may not be living our dream is that we may not know how to start bringing it from our imagination into our reality. This stumbling block places seemingly insurmountable barriers in our paths to realizing our dreams. But, more significantly, this challenge places barriers in our minds.
I realize, of course that these are not the only thieves that steal our dreams; but, they are the ones which we will be addressing right now.
Come and explore with me some of the secrets to opening ourselves up to realizing our dreams in tangible ways!
